In the late 1990&#8242;s Marposs rationalised and engineered the Unimar which is a truly unique gauge head combining high precision with versatility.</p>
<p>Thousands of Unimar gauge systems have already been installed worldwide by manufacturers of all types of grinding machines with exceptional results, these being used in many industrial sectors, including the automotive, bearing, compressors, injectors, hydraulic, and electrical appliance industries.</p>
<p>To suit the current and future trend for smaller <a href="http://www.marposs.com/product.php/eng/in_process_micro_od_grinder">grinding machines</a>, Marposs has now introduced the NanoUnimar, another innovative design, evolving from the successful Unimar range.</p>
<p>NanoUnimar has small physical dimensions, however it pays large dividends in term of cost and performance ratios. Its sub-micron accuracy and stability are, with its compact size, the main features in providing a gauge solution when space is restricted and micro components are being ground.</p>
<p>NanoUnimar can be used with the full range of Marposs electronic units, including the P7 with its cycle display and machine control via its screen.</p>
<p>Alternatively it can be directly connected to the grinding machine&#8217;s PC based CNC using the Marposs Human Interface Software (MHIS), making efficient use of an existing resource.</p>
<p>In spite of its size NanoUnimar&#8217;s design provides reliability and precision whilst in the harsh grinding environment and ensures that modern process tolerances can be achieved.</p>

This precision has already been reached in the metrology laboratory with temperature stability, but it is unusual to be applied to machine tools on the shop floor. A use of this special gauge is the grinding process of components for the diesel engine injection and hydraulic spools where matching tolerances are often of few microns</p>

The change in the measurement during grinding (stock removal speed) is compared with grinding wheel feed rate values and if the check limits are exceeded the P7ME electronic system automatically modifies the machining cycle to optimise the entire process. The machine tool‚Äôs natural deviation from the required value can be monitored using post process sample measurements which, with suitable statistical processing, supply the data for automatic tool compensation.</p>

<p align="left"><a href="http://www.marposs.com/product.php/eng/grinders_human_interface"><img class="alignleft" style="margin-left: 5px; margin-right: 5px;" title="Grinding line - Software to manage: measurement, balancing and analysis" src="http://www.marposs.com/backend/products/img_upload/img_medium/0807171041170_products_0133.jpg" alt="Grinding line - Software to manage: measurement, balancing and analysis" align="left" /></a>The ever increasing possibility of multitasking operation for the CNCs which control grinding machines and the increase in their graphics capacities has allowed Manufacturers to design and develop the user interface to be increasingly ergonomic and specific for machine operators.</p>
<p align="left">As a result, they can view process parameters and at the same time interact with them without compromising machining cycle performance.</p>
<p>The same type of operation is also required of the interface for accessory and control functions (in process measure, grinding wheel balancing, etc.) which are normally performed by installing specific apparatuses on the machine. A growing number of grinding machine manufacturer need and want to create an optimised user interface for their machines, an interface shared by the various functions with the aim of making it simpler for end users.</p>
<p>Another aim is to reduce the space occupied on the Machine Panel by the front panels of the various apparatuses.</p>
<p>Here the software to satisfy the need for INTEGRATION of the user interface as regards the part relative to control functions such as:</p>
<p>* in process measurement</p>
<p>* grinding whell balancing</p>
<p>* analysis using acoustic sensors</p>
<p>Marposs proposes MHIS, a software developed for the Windows?Ç¬Æ 2000/NT/XP environment, able to operate in the machine PC /CNC.</p>
<p>MHIS activates the connection between the machine PC/CNC and the P5/P7 using an RS 232 interface or via Ethernet.</p>
<p>MHIS is also supplied as a software Component (OCX).</p>
<p>Therefore, it can be integrated in the User Interface designed by the machine Manufacturer using Microsoft COM environment rules.</p>
<p>An OPC server is also available. Thanks to the Client &#8211; Sever architecture this allows two or more User programs simultaneously active in the PC/CNC to share the data which arrives from the Gauge.</p>
